The baby mammoth Liouba comes back home

In State Darwin Museum in Moscow solemn closing of the exhibition project "Mammoths Go …" which main exhibit there was the Yamal baby mammoth Liouba will take place on January 19.

As organizers of action acted: Yamal-Nenets district museum exhibition complex of name I.S. Shemanovsky and two Moscow museums: State Darwin Museum, Museum theater "Our Ice Age". We will note that it is the first exhibition in the Russian Federation, with participation of the Yamal baby mammoth to that the conclusion in January, 2012 of the Agreement on trade and economic, scientific and technical, social and cultural cooperation between the Government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area and the Government of Moscow preceded.

At the exhibition similar which in Moscow yet wasn't, the best finds of mammoths – one of the legendariest animals of an era of the last freezing for the first time were at the same time exposed. Some of these exhibits are already world famous, others were never exposed before. Gathered, they "told" visitors of the museum story of research of this surprising and mysterious animal.

One of blocks of a display at the exhibition was completely devoted to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area. Here were presented: photo, video and text information materials about Yamal, a baby mammoth Liouba and other mammoths, the author of a find, activity of Museum exhibition complex of name I.S. Shemanovsky.

Within three months visitors could get acquainted with articles of clothing from an ethnographic collection of the main museum of Yamal: the Nenets winter yagushka, shaman flogging, bag with a needle case, pussycats female, transferring national color of the Yamal North and an artifact from an archaeological monument "The Nadym ancient settlement". Besides, the sculptural composition "A legend about сихиртя" (the author – the Tobolsk sculptor M. V. Timergazeev), executed in the form of a multifigured design on Finno-Ugric national legends with elements of a modern formation of myths became decoration of an exposition.

The museum theater "Our Ice Age", presented a skeleton of a mammoth which allowed visitors to compare the sizes of an adult individual and a cub at an exhibition. Besides, numerous scientific and art reconstruction of an animal "told" how tusks of a mammoth why his teeth was replaced during life six times grew, than he ate as his wool what it was represented by the ancient person looks, whether it is possible to distinguish on bones it from an elephant and much, many other.

Solemn closing of an exhibition will take place on January 19 at 13.00. Within closing the results of the intellectual competition "Mamontovedeniye" and the creative competition "We Travel with Liouba" will be summed up. After that, within two-three days the Yamal baby mammoth will be delivered to Salekhard.
