Archeologists will continue to investigate a sanctuary of Ust-Poluj. Experts expect new finds and opening.

Since July, 14th within a month it is planned to spend archeological excavations of a sanctuary of Ust-Poluj. This year employees of Muzejno-expocentre will take part in research of I.S.Shemanovsky, representatives of Institute of language, the literature and history of Komi of a centre of science from Syktyvkar, Institute of archeology and ethnography of Novosibirsk, students from Salekhard.

Employees МВК remind that the monument is known since 1932, for the first time it was investigated by the Leningrad archeologist V.S.Adrianovym. In 1950 years thanks to works of the ethnographer and archeologist V.N.Chernetsova Ust-Poluj has received world popularity among experts-severovedov. Per 1993-1995 monument studying has been continued by the Yamal archaeological expedition under the direction of N.V.Fedorovoj. In 2006 of research have been renewed and are spent annually.

The monument existed throughout several centuries – last centuries BC – the beginning d.C. and was a large sanctuary. During excavation the considerable quantity of products from a bone, horns was revealed, metal are tools of hunting, military equipment, subjects of fishery, processing of skins, ornaments. The great interest of experts in history, archeology, art, ethnography of Western Siberia and Priuralja cause the unique bone hand-made articles representing sculptures of various animals, birds, representatives ихтиофауны. It is necessary to notice and that finds of monuments of this time similar on structure in Western Siberia is not revealed yet.
