"Tupolev" will finish an amphibian snowmobile for the Yamal mail carriers

In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area Federal State Unitary Enterprise Russian Post together with JSC Tupolev was carried out by operational tests of an amphibian snowmobile of AS-2.

The main objective of tests was the quality and quantitative standard of suitability of aero sled equipment for high-speed year-round delivery of urgent correspondence, documents, and also money to the remote polar settlements.

amphibian snowmobile performed work together with all-terrain vehicles on pneumatics of ultralow pressure. During tests logistic efficiency of interaction of group of the vehicles united by a common information space was defined.

After preliminary organizational technical training AS-2 amphibian snowmobile accompanied by 2 Rosar all-terrain vehicles started on a route: Salekhard - Aksarka - Salemal - Panayevsk - Yar-sale - Salekhard more than 500 km long. Lump of loading exceeded 1,5 tons of mailings, including urgent correspondence, parcels, administrative documentation, credit cards, pensions, and also food, industrial goods and so forth.



During tests traficabilities of the loaded snowmobile on various types of a surface, including winter roads, a snow virgin soil were tested, fly also open water, and also speeds and fuel consumption on control sites of a route are measured. Much attention was paid to use of off-road opportunities of an amphibian snowmobile on reduction of distances of run between settlements, and also to interaction with all-terrain vehicles for ensuring mutual safety of works in the conditions of polar night, low temperatures and winds.

As a whole during tests the tactical technical characteristics declared to JSC Tupolev were confirmed. Average speed on control sites made 67,5 km/h that at the expense of additional "smoothing" of road routes can provide delivery of mailings and essentials in any point of the autonomous area less than in days. Average fuel consumption made 31,3 l in hour.



During operational tests a number of technical shortcomings was revealed, together with employees of UFPS Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area recommendations about necessary completions of a design were developed by a mass production of an amphibian snowmobile. Specialists of JSC Tupolev confirmed technical capability of realization of the specified completions which don't have basic character, in design documentation of AS-2.

As a whole results of works showed high efficiency of operation of group of vehicles as a part of amphibian snowmobile and all-terrain vehicles on pneumatics of ultralow pressure for creation of optimum logistic schemes of regular year-round delivery of post freights to small settlements of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area.
